Odaiba


‚Daiba’ means fortress, and it is an artificial island, which was built during the Edo period to defend the coastline of Tokyo Bay.
Since the 80ties Odaiba is extended into a futuristic business area. Famous attractions are the Fuji TV Building, the Decks Tokyo Beach (food theme park), the Aqua-City (shopping center), the Maritime Museum (the building is shaped as a cruise ship), the Future or Knowledge Museum (see ‘Miraikan’), the Telecom Center, Oedo Onsen Monogatari (hot springs and bathes), the Mega Web (Toyota showroom with various opportunities to test real cars), the Panasonic Center, Tokyo Big Sight (Japan’s biggest exhibition area), the Ferris Wheel (115 m high; see ‘Ferris Wheel’), public parks and the Rainbow Bridge.
