Peter Nawrot
At the age of 12 he began practicing judo and jiu jitsu at the Steglitzer Sport Club Südwest and at the Jiu Jitsu School Grunert in Berlin – Friedrichstrasse. Later when going to university he came across aikido ( ki no kenkyu kai ) for the first time. After this short encounter however four years judo on competition level in Linz / Austria follow, before he moves to Munich. There eventually among the many aikido styles (Couhépé, Tissier, Nocquet, Kobayashi (Osaka), Yoshigasaki, Yamaguchi, Shimizu), he opts for the Tendoryu Aikido of Shimizu sensei. Four years later he is sent to Japan by his company.
- 1982 the following seven years he trains daily at the Tendokan, the dojo of Shimizu sensei in Tokyo. Shimizu sensei once compared this period with a modern way of uchi deshi life.
- 1990 moves back to Berlin and starts teaching aikido at the SSC Südwest as the head instructor. Besides he trains aikido trainers and supports the founding of new groups in community centers and budo schools.
- 1994 founding and supporting Tendoryu Aikido schools in Budapest and at the lake Balaton.
- 1996 job transfer to Singapore, where he sets up Tendoryu Aikido Singapore together with Birgit Lauenstein. A very special event is, when Shimizu sensei visits Singapore and gives a four days seminar. An other highlight is the grading of two local aikido teacher to first and second dan.
- 2000 second stay in Japan, with regular practice at the Tendokan in Tokyo. Returns to Germany after one and a half years.
- Since 2002 he teaches at the sport club Nippon in Berlin.
