Aikido for children
The children between the ages of 10 and 14 train in a Japanese dojo. The training takes place on special mats (tatami).
Training goals of this aggression-free martial art are, among others, improvement:
- of motor skills
- the ability to react
- the mobility
- the ability to work in a team
- the concentration
The children first learn to dodge an attack skilfully and to fall safely. The fall school protects against injuries. The partner's attack movements are diverted into circular movements. Aikido techniques require much concentration. Therefore, the training includes games and gymnastic exercises.
The training is conducted by licensed trainers or trainers trained by the Berlin State Sports Association and the Aikido Association.
The children wear an Aikido / Judo suit (Dogi) during the training; in the beginning normal gymnastic clothing is sufficient; training is done barefoot.
