The seminar venue is located in Southern Germany in a densely forested area known as ‘ Black Forest ’. A total of 120 students from 1. kyu onward was permitted to participate in this seminar. The participants came from about 10 different countries, from European countries, from America , Jordan etc..

July 3rd - July 4th Munich / Germany

On July 3rd and 4th there were about 130 participants in Munich .

July 8th - July 11th Serbia / Montenegro (the former Yugoslavia )

Novisad, near the capital Belgrade

In spite of the lingering intense heat of 38 degrees participants from all over the country came together. It was when the ambassador of the local Japanese embassy, Tanabe Ryuuichi, paid a visit and watched, while strengthening the friendly contact to Shimizu sensei. This was chosen as a topic and reported by the local newspapers and by the local TV channel.

Furthermore, Shimizu sensei also was invited in a rush to the donation celebration of two ambulance cars, which could be vaunted of their state-of-the-art equipment for medical treatment and which had been donated to the local hospital. The ambulance cars have been part of the Japanese international aid. On this ceremony Shimizu sensei had also a chat with the attending prime minister of the province (that corresponds to a governor of a prefecture in Japan ).

Complete Dojo Redecoration

Unsing the summer holidays the inside of the dojo has been completely redecorated. The objective was, to create `a honbu dojo for the expanding Tendoryu that welcomes guests of honor and students from Japan and from abroad appropriately’.

The familiar low ceiling with reed blinds was replaced by a carpeting of white basic tint, and a spacious and bright atmosphere was created. The wall decoration made of Japanese cedar and the floor made of Japanese cypress are giving off the scent of new lumber.

Additionally the changing rooms for the women and men as well as the entrance area have been renewed.

We will have an Autumn Seminar this year, too

The ‘Autumn Seminar’, which was revived last year, is scheduled this year for November 20th (Sat), 21st (So), and 22nd (Mo). Seminar venue is the hotel Kannon Onsen in Izu / Shimoda (with dojo facility). Last time there were more than 50 participants, Shimizu sensei offered special practice, we could enjoy the autumnal hot springs (onsen), had lots of fun with the ‘table-tennis contest`, and there were many things, we cannot experience during normal classes in the dojo.

Details will follow soon in the dojo.
